Welcome to Sew Mini Pieces
Welcome to Sew Mini Pieces . . . the pattern company for wearables and home décor we know you will love.
Whether the pattern is an appliqué design for a ready made garment or a pattern for a vest from beginning to end, we know you will find the instructions very clear and detailed. Five years of mechanical drafting experience has helped to create very clear illustrations where they are needed.
The appliqué designs all have full size pattern pieces and layout guides so you know exactly where each piece is placed. Most have a dimensional effect to them. For instance, if there is a basket in the design, chances are it is really woven with strips of fabric. Leaves & flower petals are rarely sewn all the way flat.
If you choose a pattern to construct from beginning to end, the patterns come
with a tissue pattern in a variety of sizes.
The constructed vests are shown using hand-dyed fabrics as well as printed
fabrics so you can choose the look you want. To purchase my favorite hand-dyed
fabric, go to the link for Cherrywood Fabics.
For a very fun project, try one of the patterns for turning vertical blinds into wall quilts. This can usually be done without even sewing, and it can be done in a long weekend.
Be sure and check out the "Bitty Bag". It's just the most versatile
little bag to take shopping or traveling. If you live in a colder climate,
it's perfect for wearing under your coat. It's nice and flat, and very
secure.
Coming very soon is a new wall quilt. I'm so excited about it.
It's like nothing I've ever done before, and I think you'll really like it as
well. It will be done in cottons or felted wools.
We want you to love our patterns, and more than that, we want you to love your finished product. We know you will. Contact us if you have any questions.
Company Background:
Sew Mini Pieces is a small company in a big pattern industry. It didn't
start out as a pattern company. I started this company in 1990 when I
decided to make items to sell at a craft mall. Many of the garments I made
were purchased by the ladies who worked at the local quilt shop. When they
wore the garment in their shop, the customers would ask which pattern it
was. Of course, there was no pattern at that time.
The ladies at the
quilt shop encouraged me to create the patterns, so I introduced the pattern
line at the International Quilt Market for the first time in the spring of
1994. I was extremely nervous. They were a success, and the rest, as
they say, is history.
There are 3 different groups of patterns. There are the appliqué
patterns for wearables and home decor . . . most having some slight 3-D effect.
Leaves and flower petals are rarely sewn flat for a very different look.
The second group is the more timeless designs in wearables. You have a
choice of using hand dyed fabrics or printed fabrics. These patterns have
been extremely popular across the country, and they are a joy to design! The
hand dyed fabrics can be purchased from Cherrywood Fabrics. (See our link
to them.)
The third group is for vertical
blinds. Turn a set of already existing vertical blinds into a wall
quilt....usually without even sewing a stitch. These are so quick and so
much fun.
You can always reach me at the phone or fax
number, or by e-mail or street address if ever you have a question. I am
always willing to help you through any step if you have a problem. Sew
Mini Pieces is still a small company in a big pattern industry, & I am the
sole designer. Take a look at the patterns, and let me know what you
think. I know you will like what you see.
